A Bit of History

After Dean and Karen purchased their first farm, Dean began growing strawberries, apples, tomatoes, and zucchini in large quantities. Dean and Karen were married in 1985 after Karen graduated with a degree in marketing and communications. Karen managed a women’s clothing store for 15 years, while Dean managed and grew the farm. They were also raising two children, Kyle and Anna.

In 2000, Dean and Karen decided to work closely together in farming and expand into farmers markets, bringing their quality farm fresh produce straight from the farm to families in the community. Karen was also able to bring her sales experience and marketing degree to this new venture.

Farm & Family

Dean and Karen pride themselves on always putting the customer first. They manage four farmers markets in the Chicago suburbs during each season, while farming large quantities of fruits and vegetables. Their farm has grown to 150 acres and it’s always a busy place!

Froehlich’s Finest is proud to be in their 23rd year participating in farmers markets while continuing large crops of strawberries, cherries, apples, and tomatoes. They love sharing their farm fresh produce in the community at markets and off their farm. After 23 years, their customers have become like close friends and family.

Time has passed since they first bought the farm. Kyle and Anna have both married, and Dean and Karen are now proud grandparents to five grandsons and one granddaughter. Dean and Karen will celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary in 2023!
